This department, which has access to the latest information on recent investment and business legislation, provides advice on investment matters, conduct project feasibility studies, negotiates, researches, drafts and structures international contracts and agreements in such areas as joint ventures, technology licensing agreements, construction contracts, management contracts, loan syndication and other international financing agreements.
Some of the issues and projects handled by the unit includes
- the drafting, negotiation and servicing of the BOT Concession Agreements for the Murtala Mohammed Domestic Terminal Building between Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and Sanderton Ventures (2001-2002) and Bi-Courtney Consortium Limited (2002 – to date). We represented FAAN and the Federal Government on both occasions;
- consulting for the Nigerian Ports authority in the drafting and negotiation of the BOT Concession Agreement between NPA and Grimaldi (Ports and Terminals Multiservices Limited) (2004- 2005);
- negotiation and drafting of the leasehold agreement for multi- story block of apartments between JOF Ideal Family Farms Limited and United States Embassy in Nigeria.
In addition, CLDS personnel have experience in projects handled by them before joining the Centre. Such projects include: debt rescheduling negotiations; drafting and negotiations of the construction contract of the Nigeria House in New York Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations’ Building (22 storey edifice); drafting of IPO documents; etc.
